FAQs & tips
Why is my real consumption higher than the handbook?
City driving, cold starts, air conditioning, load, and speed all raise consumption. Measure your own figure over a full tank for a realistic input.
How can I lower trip cost?
Steady highway speeds, correct tyre pressure, removing roof racks when not needed, and avoiding heavy acceleration usually help more than any additive. The biggest saving is often refuelling where prices are lower, if it does not add a long detour.
Should I budget extra?
Yes, for a long trip. Add 10% to the estimate for detours, traffic, and a safety margin, and plan refuelling before remote stretches rather than trusting the last station to be open.
Does this calculator include tolls or food?
No. It covers fuel only. Tolls, meals, and accommodation are separate trip costs.
